Charity work key to beauty pageant

A young Sleaford mum is hoping she has what it takes to become a national beauty queen, demonstrating the breadth of her charity work, not just her looks.

Hannah Brennan is the Sleaford entrant for the Miss Atlantic beauty pageant and explained that charitable work was a key element of the competition.

“It’s all about charity work. The more charity work you do, the better you are,” she said.

“I need to think of charity events to raise as much money as possible for my chosen charity, Rainbow Stars.

“We have a fundraising day planned for Hallowe’en and an online pageant for them too to be involved with,” Hannah said.

“There are lots of girls around the country taking part and I know there is a young girl from North Hykeham too.”

Applications are still open and Hannah will be up against up to 100 entrants in the finals, to be held at Radlett, near Watford.

As well as the community aspect of the contest, there will still be a traditional swim suit round, a fashion round and evening gown round and Hannah is looking for a local business to sponsor her.

She said: “I’ve already raised £135, but I’m looking to raise about £500 for my place in the pageant and outfits.”

A part-time photographer by trade herself, Hannah has had a photo shoot with local cameraman Marc Carlton to make sure she has a portfolio ready for the big event.
