A choir once more

After a period of many years, the St Margaret's Church choir in Thimbleby has been reformed and is once again leading the Sunday morning services.

The formation of the ten-strong choir is an important part in the resurgence of the church, which just five years ago was facing closure.

One of the conditions of the £220,000 Heritage Lottery grant awarded to the church was that it should strive to become the centre of the community once again.

“We are, at present, a small enthusiastic group of experienced and less experienced singers who enjoy singing together,” said the group’s leader, Tricia Faulkes. “We welcome anyone to join us, please give us a ring on 01507 527366.”

Repairs to the church will cost £275,000 and efforts are being made to raise the additional funds needed.
