The Government’s decision to ease lockdown restrictions means a number of outlets can start trading again, from Monday morning.

Already a number of businesses have confirmed their plans for the big return - and what they hope will be the sound of tills ringing merrily and often..

Hairdressers are reporting a massive demand from clients who have gone up to three months without a decent cut.

One owner told the News: “The phone hasn’t stopped ringing. It’s crazy.”

Other shops opening range from a car wash on Lincoln Road to a sweet shop in the town centre.

There will, though, be mixed feelings at Poyntons Shoes.

Owners will be re-opening on Monday... with a closing down sale.

Retirement is behind the pending closure - after 53 years in business at the corner of the Market Place and the High Street,

The property is part of the former town house of the world famous naturalist Sir Joseph Banks.

It has long been a footwear outlet and was formerly Bryants from who Peter Poynton (the father of the current owners) ) bought the business from in 1968.

In a statement on the Horncastle Community Page, Paddy Poynton said: “So, the end of an era arrives.

“It is with sadness that Poyntons Shoes are closing down their Horncastle branch over the next few months but a well-earned retirement has caught up with Cherry!

“We will be reopen on the 12th April as per government guidelines and anticipate that we will close our doors during July.

“We wish to thank all our staff members who have supported us over the last 53 years and also, it goes without saying, our loyal customers. It has been a joy and “we couldn’t have continued so long without your devotion and trust.

“Patrick Poynton (Cherry’s brother) will remain trading in our Mablethorpe shop and will continue to offer an independent service, quality footwear and an exhilarating walk on a golden beach!
