'Commitment to improving the experience of travelling': Bus shelter upgrades continue across Lincolnshire
Bus passengers across Lincolnshire are set to benefit from even more improvements, as upgrades to bus stops and shelters continue throughout the county.
Lincolnshire County Council has been investing in making bus travel easier, more comfortable and more reliable — recognising that every journey starts at the bus stop.
So far, more than 300 stops have been improved, giving passengers clearly marked boarding points and up-to-date timetable information. In addition, 67 new shelters with seating have been installed, providing greater comfort while waiting.
And there’s more to come.

Over the next year, plans are in place to install or refurbish a further 150 shelters, alongside more than 230 real-time information displays. These electronic boards allow passengers to track buses live, right down to the minute.
Mike Reed, Head of Transport Services at Lincolnshire County Council, said: “For the last two years, we have invested in bus services and bus stops across the county, to improve the experience of all bus passengers.
“We will carry on installing new shelters and electronic departure boards with work happening every month to build on this recent success.”
The programme began in early 2024, with major upgrades to interchanges in Market Rasen, Mablethorpe, Spilsby and Long Sutton. Since then, real-time tracking displays have been rolled out at bus stations and stops across the area.

CounDavid East, Executive Councillor for Highways and Transport, added: “Lincolnshire County Council’s ongoing investment in bus shelters, stops and passenger information shows our commitment to improving the experience of travelling on public transport for everyone.
“We will continue to upgrade shelters across the county this year to make travelling by bus easier, more comfortable and more accessible.”
