Community effort provides hot meal delivery in Market Rasen as Eastertide treat

A hot meal was the aim , with Market Rasen churches and volunteer groups coming together to make it happen.

Yesterday (Thursday) saw more than 60 meals go out to some of the town’s elderly, those self isolating or in need.

The meal was free, thanks to donations from greengrocer Rose and Berries, and a local meat supplier.

Nicky from Nice & Naughty Cafe Bistro donned her apron to prepare the main meal and also provide a scone desert for all.

Alongside the meal, there was an Easter goody bag, containing daffodils donated by Tesco, an Easter egg donated by Market Rasen primary School, an Easter card provided by the churches and a rainbow picture, drawn by six-year-old Sammy , for people to put in their windows.

Town Mayor John Matthews was one of those out delivering.

He said: “What a fantastic community effort.

“Everyone has come together and I know it has been greatly appreciated by those who received the meals.

“Thank you to all.”
