A £100,000 Community Fund was created by WLDC to support such groups during the Covid emergency, and access to the grant is available until March 31.

Eligible groups can apply for between £250 and £5,000, with organisations such as the Salvation Army, Feeding Gainsborough and Brookenby Community Group already allocated funding.

Matt Snee, Community Engagement Officer, said: “Like everywhere else in the country, Covid-19 has hit out district hard – causing financial, emotional and physical distress to many of our residents.

“It is incredible to see so many people pulling together right now, to help those who are especially struggling, and that is why we have put this funding together.

“If you are part of a group that is providing essential services right now – it could be providing food to elderly residents, delivering medication, or checking in on someone to make sure they are ok - we want to help.

“Let us know and we might be able to provide financial support for you – so far groups such as Parish Councils, Community Groups and Charities such as the Salvation Army have applied and received funding and so we encourage you to apply. We are incredibly grateful for your support and services right now!”

• Good Neighbour Schemes

• Access to food

• Access to medicine

• Transport

• Physical and emotional wellbeing support

Groups from rural settings are especially encouraged to apply.
