Works to build the new zebra crossing on the A157, near Old Grammar School Way, will start on Monday, March 22, for up to nine weeks (subject to suitable weather).

As part of the works, the following traffic management will be in place:

• Monday, March 22 until mid-April: full 24/7 road closure on the A157 between the A158 roundabout and Silver Street - (Diversion route via B1225 to Baumber and A158).

• Mid-April until mid-May: 24/7 temporary traffic signals at the A157/A158 mini-roundabout - (Dates and details to be confirmed closer to the time).

• Late April for up to three evenings: night-time road closure on the A157 and temporary traffic signals on the A158 - (Dates and details to be confirmed closer to the time).

• Late May for up to three evenings: night-time road closure on the A158 and temporary traffic signals on the A157 - (Dates and details to be confirmed closer to the time).

Councillor Patricia Bradwell OBE, Deputy Leader and County Councillor for Woodhall Spa & Wragby, said: “The first part of this scheme, which saw a new puffin crossing built on the A158 is a great success with residents – and now we’re set to make Wragby even safer by building a new zebra crossing on the A157 near Old Grammar School Way.

Residents have been calling for both of these new crossings for years, and I’m really happy to see them finally coming to fruition as part of our Lincolnshire Coastal Highway improvement scheme.”

Other improvements being made as part of this set of A157 works are:

• Construction of two new pedestrian refuges at the islands of the mini-roundabout

• Widening and realigning of the A158 South of the mini roundabout to improve vehicle turning manoeuvres and accommodate the new pedestrian refuges

• Footway improvements, including widening and reconstruction between the Adam and Eve and new zebra crossing, as well as the southern A158 footpath near the works

• Minor drainage improvements along the carriageway and near the new crossing

• Improved street lighting

Councillor Richard Davies, executive member for highways, said: “These works are another part of our on-going improvements to the county’s coastal highway, with the plan being to improve the roads people use to get to our beautiful coast.

“The A157 and A158 in Wragby are two of those main routes, so we’re working to make these stretches of road safer for everyone that uses them.”
