Coronavirus cases confirmed in North East Lincolnshire

The first cases of coronavirus have been confirmed at Diana, Princess of Wales Hospital in Grimsby today (Friday).

Northern Lincolnshire and Goole NHS Foundation Trust has confirmed that a ‘small number of patients’ that have been diagnosed with COVID-19 are being treated at their hospitals in Grimsby and Scunthorpe. The exact number of cases at each hospital site has not been confirmed.

Dr Kate Wood, Medical Director at the Trust, said: “We can confirm that we are currently caring for patients who have tested positive for the COVID-19 infection.

“They are being very safely cared for by our highly skilled teams and all of the appropriate protection measures are in place.

“We would like to thank our staff for working tirelessly to ensure we are prepared to care for patients who are diagnosed with COVID-19 as well as all our other patients.”

“Patient confidentiality is our top priority and we will not be providing a running commentary on those patients affected, who we wish a very speedy recovery.”
