Matt Warman says there is light at the end of the tunnel, but that everyone must now act responsibly to help beat the virus.

The Government announced full details of the proposed tiers for English regions today, and Lincolnshire will go into Tier 3, along with all of the East Midlands, once the current lockdown ends next Wednesday.

In a statement on Facebook Mr Warman said: “Tier 3 is being allocated to areas with a very high or very rapidly rising level of infections; NHS pressures in Lincolnshire remain high and show signs of increasing, particularly for the units treating the more serious covid cases.

What Tier 3 will mean for the people of the district“I know how difficult today’s news will be for people in Boston & Skegness, and indeed across Lincolnshire as a whole. Let me be clear: I am hugely grateful to everyone who has obeyed the rules and, through no fault of their own, will still find themselves bound by such restrictions.

“The tier allocations will be reviewed based on local data, and if it is safe to do so, we will be able to move to lighter restrictions.

“We will not be in Tier 3 forever, but the longer we take to bear down on the virus, the longer we will spend in the highest of tiers. These restrictions are not a boundary to push, they are rules that will keep people safe and stop our local NHS services from becoming overwhelmed.

“There’s light at the end of the tunnel in the form of promising vaccine developments, but in the meantime we must pull together to make it through this winter period. We all have a personal and collective responsibility to our friends, family and neighbours.

“Please take time to become acquainted with the Tier 3 rules on the below poster, but the current national restriction rules are still in place until 2 December and must be followed until they expire.”
