Boston Borough Council has provided banners for schools, encouraging parents and carers to remember to keep their distance when dropping off and picking up pupils.

A spokesperson for the council said parents should follow school guidelines on where to wait for children and which way to go into schools.

Some schools have also introduced measures such as staggered pick up times and year/group bubbling, which schools will have made parents aware of.

The spokesperson also reminded parents and pupils that children aged 11 and above using public transport are encouraged to wear face coverings and stay within their bubbles.

Council leader Coun Paul Skinner, said: “We are pleased that many children are continuing to be taught at school, but it is vital that they stick to their bubbles outside of school and that parents and carers follow social distancing guidelines in the school grounds.

“We have all been affected by the ongoing pandemic and parents and carers are continuing to play an important role in the fight against coronavirus.

“We all need to do our bit to stop the spread of the virus so we are able to return to our normal daily lives sooner.”

Cllr Mrs Patricia Bradwell, Lincolnshire County Council’s executive member for children's services, added: “Throughout this year children and young people have adjusted quickly and shown great strength, with the support of parents, carers and schools.

“We know it can be difficult to get pupils to socially distance on the way to and from school, but we need to do all we can to ensure we don't undermine the hard work we've all put in to reduce infection levels."

The council spokesperson said any child with coronavirus symptoms must self-isolate and get a test as quickly as possible, and must continue to self-isolate until they get their results.

If tested positive, they must continue to self-isolate and follow government advice and inform the child’s school as soon as possible.
