Councils across Lincolnshire redeploy staff in bid to tackle Covid-19

The consultation has been paused until schools reopen again

In figures sent to Local Democracy Reporters, Lincolnshire County Council confirmed it had successfully redeployed 266 of its 5,158 staff into new roles.

The figure is around 5% of the total workforce.

No staff had been furloughed at the authority.

Across the six district councils, of those who responded to the request, 233 of 2,243 staff have been redeployed to high-demand, essential services – around 10%.

The only authority to report furloughed staff so far was East Lindsey District Council, which said it had placed 15 members onto the scheme.

The move has saved the council £11,107 so far.

A spokesman confirmed those affected were car park attendants and employees at the council’s caravan site.

“We only furloughed in agreement with those concerned and after redeployment opportunities had been explored,” said the spokesman.

North East Lincolnshire Council also confirmed it had redeployed 85 of its 1,657 staff – again around 5%. None of its staff had been furloughed.
