Gem and Dan Colson set up Happy Paws Pet Food Bank to help those who are struggling due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Pets can be expensive to look after and those struggling to make ends meet can seek help from Happy Paws Pet Food Bank.

Gem said: “It’s been such a challenging year for everyone and we set up the pet food bank as a way to help the anyone in the local community who may be struggling during this uncertain time.

“Pets are such a key part of the family and bring so much joy and companionship.

“We cover Horncastle, Wragby, Bardney, Woodhall Spa and all the surrounding villages.”

Gem and Dan have been overwhelmed with the generosity shown by everyone who has supported their venture so far.

She said: “We’ve had an amazing amount of donations from day one that have gone straight out to helping families.

“We’re so grateful for all of the support we’ve had.

“Over the last two weeks it’s really picked up and we’ve been able to help over 20 families feed their pets.

“People are not always comfortable asking for help but that’s what we’re here for.

“There’s no judgment from us, everyone’s financial situation can change in an instant.

“Our mission is to keep pets with their families rather than having to be rehomed or go without food.

“We have an Amazon wishlist on our Facebook page (@happypawspetfoodbank) and a donation point at Bonafide Pet Supplies in Bardney.”

Donations of wet or dry pet food are welcome.

Gem added: “Those who may need help are welcome to contact us via our Facebook page or email [email protected] and we will happily arrange a doorstep delivery of food and treats.”
