Charles said: “I’ve been working hard on my craft and it has helped me to stay calm and stay focussed.

“I’m proud that this has been recognised.”

Geraldine is also very proud of Charles’s achievements in what has been, for everyone, a trying year.

She said: “Charles has worked so hard and we are all very proud of him.

“He is very creative and loves nothing more than making items and then selling them to reinvest in his enterprise, Crazy Crafts.”

Charles is a non-verbal person and he has sensory processing disorder, as well as autism.

He communicates through a method called Rapid Prompting Method (RPM), where he points to letters
on a laminate board.

Geraldine added: “Charles has embraced the virtual world we are all learning
to live with.

“He has been able to join in family Zoom sessions by using the chat function and
this has built his skills.

“He is also hoping to share his experiences by giving presentations to
other support groups.”
