The crowds came out in their thousands for the East Kirby Aviation Heritage Centre’s annual Air Display.

Once again, the Centre’s resident Lancaster bomber ‘Just Jane’ was the centre of attention.

However, a whole range of other attractions kept the big crowds entertained.

And it wasn’t just the aircraft that proved popular.

There were displays of classic cars, motorcycles and vintage tractors, all lined up around the Centre’s watchtower alongside a large number of stalls and exhibits.

‘Just Jane’ provided taxi-run experiences and was joined by ‘Drag ‘em oot’, the resident Douglas C-47A Skytrain glider snatcher.

The star visitor in the flying programme was the newly restored Bristol Blenheim, a twin engined fighter of the Battle of Britain era, the only airworthy example in the world.

Also in the air were a Hurricane, Mustang and many other aircraft including the Wildcats aerobatic team and Captain Neville’s Flying Circus with their “Barnstorming” routine.

If all this wasn’t enough there were several flying demonstrations of radio controlled model aircraft.

Visitor Jenny Simpson said: “It was a brilliant day and a big thanks to every at the Aviation Centre.”

Another radio-controlled model flew a display sequence in formation with a full size piloted machine! Surely this was a day to remember!
