Easier parking on the way as Lincolnshire joins national payment platform

Drivers across Lincolnshire will now have more choice over how they pay for parking after the county joined a national scheme designed to make parking simpler and more convenient.

Lincolnshire County Council has become part of the National Parking Platform (NPP), bringing all pay-by-phone parking services under one umbrella system and allowing motorists to use a range of popular parking apps rather than being tied to a single provider.

The move is the first time the National Parking Platform has been introduced in Lincolnshire and is aimed at making parking easier for residents, visitors and commuters.

Under the new system, drivers can use whichever NPP-approved app they already have on their phone when paying for parking at participating locations across the county.

Supported apps include APCOA Connect, AppyParking, Caura, JustPark, PayByPhone and RingGo.

A new dedicated pay-by-phone number, 0333 200 8080, has also been introduced for motorists who prefer not to use an app.

Lincolnshire County Council says the change reflects the way people increasingly choose to pay for parking and removes the frustration of having to download different apps when travelling between towns and cities.

Matt Jones, the council's Parking Manager, said: "People want parking to be straightforward. They want to pull up, open the app they already use and get on with their day.

"Joining the National Parking Platform means drivers in Lincolnshire will have that choice. It brings us in line with the way people expect to pay and removes the frustration of having to download a different app for every car park."

The National Parking Platform has been developed to create a more consistent and connected parking experience across the UK, allowing drivers greater flexibility wherever they travel.

David Sinclair, Executive Director of the National Parking Platform, welcomed Lincolnshire's decision to join the scheme.

"We are very pleased to welcome Lincolnshire County Council to the National Parking Platform," he said.

"Their decision to join reflects the momentum behind a more connected and customer-focused approach to parking. The platform is designed to give drivers greater choice and make parking simpler, and Lincolnshire's involvement strengthens the national network."

Council officials believe the move will help reduce confusion for visitors, streamline parking payments and provide a more user-friendly experience for motorists.

Mr Jones added: "This is about making things easier for the people who use our car parks every day. The technology is already there and people are used to it.

"Bringing Lincolnshire onto the platform means we can offer a better, more flexible service that fits the way people live and travel."
