‘Employee of the Year’ named as Lincolnshire bus operator honours long-serving staff
Bus drivers, engineers and support staff have been recognised for their dedication to keeping services running across the Skegness area at a special awards evening.
Colleagues from Stagecoach East Midlands gathered at the Belton Woods Hotel and Spa for the company’s annual Long Service Awards, celebrating employees who have clocked up 20, 25, 30 and 35 years of service.
Among those honoured were Gordon Johnson and Robert Scott, who were recognised for an impressive 40 years with the company.
The evening also celebrated the operator’s “Stars of the Month” winners, with dozens of staff recognised for going above and beyond in their roles throughout the year.
From those shortlisted, Derreck Smith was named Employee of the Year after being praised for his compassion and professionalism in helping to talk down a man in crisis and ensuring he received the care he needed.
A charity raffle was also held during the evening in support of Roald Dahl's Marvellous Children's Charity, raising £3,789.52, with Corporate Partnerships Manager Nil Patel attending to receive the donation.
Commercial Director Dave Skepper said: “The Long Service Awards are always a brilliant opportunity for the entire team to come together and recognise the talented and dedicated people who make Stagecoach East Midlands so special.
