The scheme is run by the Woodland Trust to encourage outdoor learning and inspires pupils to learn about trees, woods, and wildlife, with platinum the highest level available.

Activities carried out by the children have included a wildlife photography competition and mapping out the school’s nature reserve, noting the different habitats and features as they walked around the lakes and woodland.

Headteacher Julie Miles said: “We have always used our outdoor spaces as additional classrooms, and the children enjoy learning from first-hand experience.

“We are so lucky to have our own environmental area and nature reserve with ponds and woodland.”
