And college open and welcomes days in Gainsborough, Lincoln and Newark have been postponed until further notice due to coronavirus concerns.

Lincoln College Group, which runs further education at the three college locations, has put back several dates in the interests of safety.

A Lincoln College Group spokesman said: "In the interests of maintaining a safe environment for our students and staff and in the interests of ceasing any activity that increases risks to the wider community, Lincoln College is postponing the open days and welcome days at all of our campuses.

"New dates will be advertised when possible.

“Don’t worry, this won’t affect your chances of getting a place at college.

"Our advice is to find the course of your choice via our website and to submit an application. You’re not committed to anything by doing this.

"When the coronavirus situation becomes clear we will offer you a new set of dates to book in to attend a welcome day.

"We would like to apologise for any inconvenience that these postponements case, but we believe it is the right thing to do for our students, staff and the wider community."

The open day in Gainsborough was scheduled to take place on March 21.

If you are experiencing any symptoms Prime Minister Boris Johnson has urged people who can to use the NHS's new online 111 service for information on the virus instead of calling.

Symptoms include a new cough, a high temperature and shortness of breath.

NHS 111 is a 24-hour helpline for patients seeking non-urgent medical help, which replaced NHS Direct and some GP out-of-hours services in 2014.
