A long-running, annual showcase of wheeled wonders from yesteryear returned to the Boston area on Sunday (August 9).

The 34th Boston Classic Car Club Annual Show took place at Orchard Park Field, in Hubbert’s Bridge.

Running from 10am to 4pm, visitors had the chance to admire hundreds of automotive exhibits, including a 100-year-old Willys Overland Six.

Show organiser Graham Lunn said: “We had a fantastic show, with just in excess of 500 classic vehicles on display and a bumper crowd.

“The feedback from the public on the way out was that they’d really enjoyed the show and would be back next year.”

Other parts of the day included: an appearance from British auto racing driver Fiona Leggate (and her car); a talk from Boston Sea Cadets (the club’s chosen charity for the year); a question-and-answer session with club chairman John Simpson; live musical entertainment; stalls (trade and charity); and a Spitfire flypast from the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight.

"It was pleasing that a great number of public stayed on in the afternoon for the Spitfire flypast,” Graham said. “We have been lucky in the past few years to get a flyover from the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight, for which we are very grateful. It just finishes off the day.”

Graham paid tribute to the part played by sponsors and volunteers in making the event possible, as well as David May, owner of Orchard Park, and his team, for use of the field.

“Thank you to all who supported us,” he said.
