Mihai Birtu, aged 23, of Port Street, Evesham, has been charged with 21 offences of theft of lead from churches around the country, including Lincolnshire.

He appeared at Nottinghamshire Magistrates' Court on Thursday, July 30, and was remanded into custody.

He will appear at court at a later date to be confirmed.

In March, three men were charged with Conspiracy to Steal between August 2018 and March 2020 and offences in relation to the Proceeds of Crime Act, retaining, converting, distributing criminal property.

This was also connection with a theft of lead from churches across Lincolnshire and beyond.
