Third time lucky for Yarn Angels with Remembrance window display
A window display to commemorate Remembrance Day has been catching the eye of passers-by in Wainfleet – with many readers contacting Lincolnshire World to tell us all about it.
So it’s not surprising to learn that the display being hosted by 'Wainfleece Cottage' in High Street has won the Royal British Legion Wainfleet branch window display.

Depicting the theme of “in the trenches”, it has been created by the local group Yarn Angels, who say they are delighted to have won after entering the competition for three years.
The 10 ladies and one gentleman researched the project and knitted, crocheted and sewed together for about a month.
There are soldiers in kit, mud, ladders, crates and sandbags, as well as a rat!
One of the members, Tara Meekings, tells us more.
“The Royal British Legion Wainfleet branch hold a window competition each year, and invite local businesses to host a display to a particular theme. This year it is 'in the trenches',” she said.
“I belong to a local knitting and crochet group that meets on Fridays in the Angel Inn, and we are called the Yarn Angels.
"For the last three years we have all contributed to a display hosted by 'Wainfleece Cottage' at 42 High Street, Wainfleet.
“This year I think we have excelled!”
