With Christmas fast approaching, they still thought something was missing.

And the solution is two new additions...a pair of reindeer named Frosty (white male) and Mistletoe (brown female).

Park co-owner Tracy Walters said: “Frosty and Mistletoe have been settling in well over the last few days and are getting on wonderfully.”

The public won’t have long to wait to see the park’s latest attractions at a range of festive openings.

However, anyone still wanting to book for Christmas Light Nights from December 21-24 will be disappointed because the event has sold out.

Ms Walters said: “The response has been amazing.

“T hank you to all those that have booked tickets.

“If anyone has booked and now finds they cannot make it, could they please contact us so we can let someone else enjoy your space.”

Admission to the nights is free, although donations will be welcome and ploughed into the considerable running and feeding costs.

The park will be open for the weekends including December 12 and 19 - and from December 26 to January 3 (excluding New Years’ Day).

Bookings are strongly advised to prevent overcrowding and allow the park to comply with social distancing regulations.

Like all similar visitor businesses , it has been a difficult year for the park’s owners and staff.

Nevertheless, it has established itself as one of the most popular attractions in the county - bringing in thousands of visitors who have delivered a boost to the local and regional economy.

The park was closed during the most recent lockdown, but Ms Walters and fellow owner Andrew Riddel continued a well-planned development programme.

The pair are hoping to add even more animals and facilities next year.

The park has launched a Christmas present idea with a difference - a choice of ‘experiences’ which will allow visitors to get up and close to animals - including lions and bears ...and reindeer!
