Funding boost helps bring West Lindsey community projects to life
Ten projects will share £132,983 in the first round of West Lindsey District Council’s Community Grants Programme.
Of the total awarded, £94,703 will come from the Community Facilities Fund and £38,280 from the Community Action Fund.
The Community Action Fund enables community projects and activities across West Lindsey, including £8,656 towards a 12-month programme of learning and skills development sessions at Connexions Community Hub in Gainsborough and £10,000 for literacy and theatre workshops for people who are NEET (Not in Education, Employment or Training) or at risk of becoming so through Shooting Fish Theatre Company.
Coun Moira Westley, deputy leader of West Lindsey District Council and ward member for Market Rasen, said: “I’m delighted that funding is reaching communities across the district and supporting groups of all sizes. Behind every one of these projects are local people and volunteers who care deeply about where they live and are working hard to make a positive difference.

“This funding will help turn their ideas into reality, creating stronger, more welcoming places and opportunities that local people can benefit from for years to come. We are excited to follow the progress of these projects and see the difference they make.
“If you are part of a charity or community group, whatever its size, I strongly encourage you to speak to our funding team to find out what support may be available.”
The programme helps communities turn ideas into reality, strengthen local organisations and create opportunities for people to come together, connect and thrive.
Grant White, Head of Localities and Community Services at West Lindsey District Council, said: “We are delighted to have awarded funding to the first round of applicants. I look forward to seeing each project progress and the benefits they will bring to their communities.
“The programme has already attracted a good level of interest. We are particularly keen to hear from organisations with projects that will improve community facilities or deliver environmental benefits across West Lindsey.”
The council is encouraging community groups of all sizes to explore the programme and speak to its funding team about their ideas.
