Funding boost to help improve play area at Gainsborough's Williamsons Farm

Williamson Farm in Gainsborough has received a funding boost to help improve its play area.

Councillors Lesley Rollings and Trevor Young presented on Thonock Lane Farm, Gainsborough, with a contribution from their Councillor Initiative Fund.

The funding will help improve the popular play area at the farm, which is free for visitors to enjoy.

Coun Rollings said: "The Williamson family have created a wonderful place for families to visit as well as providing a home for the weekly Park Run. We are lucky to have them in our district."

The Park Run takes place every Saturday from 9am, and covers a distance of 5k.

This weekend is the final opportunity for visitors to visit the pumpkin field in time for Halloween. The farm is also home to a variety of animals, including goats, sheep, alpacas, horses, donkeys and hens.

Coun Young said: "Williamsons Farm is a great family attraction which offers an insight into farming life.

"Visitors can also enjoy the farm shop which sells potatoes grown on the farm as well as coffee and cake and other produce to be enjoyed in the cafe area."

Sally Williamson, whose husband Craig is the fifth generation to farm at the site, said the funding will make a real difference for families visiting the farm.

Until Friday, October 30, visitors can pick their own pumpkins ready for Halloween.
