Gainsborough business take on challenge to raise money for struggling families this Christmas

A total of 35 staff members from Stallard Kane Ltd are aiming to walk/step/run/cycle a collective total of 3,395 miles and raise £1,200 by December 18.

Ben Crawford, Stallard Kane’s group HR manager, said: “Many of our team are working remotely at the moment, so it’s been great to bring everyone together, especially during the national lockdown, as they take part in this virtual challenge, with the added benefit of improving everyone’s fitness and mental health, which is a big focus for our business.

“We wanted to give the challenge more purpose though, so as we are marking 20 years in business this year, we thought it would be a good idea to give back to our community, seeing as so many local businesses and people have been behind us since Stallard Kane was founded back in 2000.

"We have collaborated with local nursery and primary schools to work out how to best organise and distribute the funds raised, once the challenge is over, which will mean that many families will get to enjoy Christmas a little more than they probably would have before, with essential food items and a few Christmassy treats as well as providing healthy food options into the new year for some.

"The team smashed their original target of 1,265 miles (Indochinese Peninsula from Ho Chi Minh City to Mong Cai), but are still just under half way on their fundraising target, so there’s still a way to go.

"We are asking those of you who can, to donate to our fundraising effort. All monies raised will be divided equally between three of our local schools who have systems in place to identify the families most in need of help. “We know there are so many worthy causes appealing for help at the moment and we are grateful to anyone who has been able to support so far, but we are asking those of you who can, to donate to our fundraising effort via our GoFundMe page, www.uk.gofundme.com/f/walk-to-fork.
