This year was no different, however, to comply with distancing rules, only a handful of Rotarians could attend.

The minimum number of the team met in a Caistor garden, where outgoing president Jo Bowman passed over the chain of office to David Herring, along with the responsibility that goes with it.

David Mason is the president elect, with Malcolm Stimpson as vice president.

Nigel Douglas is treasurer and Jo Bowman secretary.

The Rotary Club of Market Rasen was formed - or chartered - on August 9, 1976, so has been attempting to create fellowship and do a little good in the local and world wide community for more than four decades.

Rasen Rotarians are part of District 1220, which encompasses 68 clubs in South Yorkshire, Derbyshire, Nottinghamshire, Leicestershire and Staffordshire.

The club normally meets on Thursdays, in the Cricket and Football Club premises off Gallamore Lane, but in these abnormal times, they meet by Zoom on a weekly basis.

This is proving highly effective and opening up a whole new world of speakers and friends from all over the world, as well as more local speakers.
