Golf pro from Skegness completes 26-mile 108-hole golfing challenge to support cancer charity

Adrian Goodyear, Assistant Professional at Seacroft Golf Club, took on the challenge for a cause close to his heart by completing six rounds of golf in one day, totalling 108 holes.

He played from 4am-8pm on Friday, June 26, walking 45,000 yards – the equivalent of roughly 26 miles – during the challenge.

"Taking on 108 holes in one day was always going to be a tough challenge, especially on one of the hottest days of the year, but every step was worth it knowing I was raising money for Macmillan Cancer Support,” said Adrian.

"I'm absolutely delighted to have raised nearly £2,000. Macmillan is a charity that means a great deal to so many people at Seacroft, and the support I've received has been incredible. It definitely won't be the last fundraising challenge I take on."

So far, Adrian has raised more than £400 online through the Macmillan fundraising website, with additional cash donations taking the total to nearly £2,000.

Susan Turner, General Manager at Seacroft Golf Club, said everyone at the club was incredibly proud of Adrian.

“Completing six rounds of golf in a single day is a remarkable achievement, particularly in such hot conditions, and he never lost sight of why he was doing it,” she said.

"The support from members and visitors throughout the day was fantastic, and we're delighted he's raised such a brilliant amount for Macmillan Cancer Support. We can't wait to see what challenge he takes on next."
