Padel People Boston, in Punchbowl Lane, launched last Saturday (March 21) with free sessions all day.
Fast-paced, padel is often described as a mix of tennis and squash.
Padel People co-founder George Sandbach said the launch went ‘very well’.
About 200 people attended the event, he said, spanning ‘a complete mix’ of ages.
“It was a real blend, which is sort of the beauty of padel,” he said.
Padel is one of the fastest growing sports in the UK.
A form of tennis, it is played on an enclosed court about a third the size of a regular court.
While the scoring is the same as tennis, it involves different racquets and lower pressure balls.
Fans include such famous faces as Andy Murray, Serena Williams, David Beckham, and Lionel Messi.
The Punchbowl Lane facility measures 15,000 sq ft and features four padel courts (two for doubles matches, two for singles) and a pickleball court.
The Standard were among those to pay the site a visit on its opening day ...
