Green-fingered groups urged to apply for funding boost
Community groups and charities across Lincolnshire are being encouraged to get their green-fingered projects off the ground thanks to a new funding pot aimed at improving local outdoor spaces.
National Grid Electricity Distribution (NGED) is offering grants to help create or enhance community green spaces, with support available for everything from parks and gardens to raised flowerbeds, living walls and biodiversity projects.
The funding is being made available through NGED's Community Matters Fund, which is offering grants of up to £5,000 for registered charities and up to £2,000 for unregistered community organisations.
Projects designed to improve access to green spaces are particularly welcomed, including the creation of paths, ramps and seating areas to help more people enjoy the outdoors.

Funding is also available for schemes that support wildlife and biodiversity, such as tree and hedge planting, wildflower meadows, ponds and bee hives.
The initiative comes as growing attention is being paid to the positive impact green spaces can have on physical and mental wellbeing, with access to nature widely recognised for helping reduce stress and anxiety while encouraging healthier lifestyles.
Applications from projects supporting vulnerable or underserved groups are especially encouraged.
Laura Bartle, NGED's Head of Environment and Sustainability, said: "As environmental challenges continue to grow, protecting and enhancing green spaces has never been more important.
"These spaces play a vital role in supporting biodiversity, strengthening climate resilience, improving health and wellbeing and creating more vibrant, connected communities.
"We all have a part to play in caring for the environment around us and we're proud to support initiatives that help protect and enhance green spaces for the future."
In total, NGED is making £250,000 available to support community projects across its network area, helping create healthier, greener and more connected places for people to enjoy.
Charities, community organisations and volunteer groups across Lincolnshire looking to improve their local environment are being urged to apply before the deadline.
Applications close at 5pm on Friday, June 26.
