'Green Goddess' fashion designer from East Lindsey wins top wedding award

A leading clothes designer, who hails from a small village in East Lindsey, is celebrating a prestigious honour at the London Wedding Awards 2026.

Nepalese-born Sanyukta Shreshtha has earned a glowing reputation over many years for her organic, vegan, cruelty-free and handcrafted work and has won multiple awards.

Now, after a recent standout showcase at London Fashion Week, she has taken home the coveted title of wedding boutique of the year from the latest awards ceremony in the British fashion capital.

Couturier Sanyukta is from Hagworthingham, which sits between Horncastle and Spilsby, and is regarded as a pioneer in sustainable luxury wear for women, specialising in the bridal market.

She launched her eco-friendly brand in 2011, long before environmental ethics entered the mass luxury arena, and she has gone from strength to strength ever since.

Widely recognised by the media as the ‘Greta (Thunberg) of the wedding world’ or the ‘Green Goddess”, she remains an industry trailblazer.

She is even the first designer of Nepali origin to have a bridal creation permanently displayed in the historic Fashion and Textile Museum’s collection in London, alongside more than 100,000 objects dating back to the 16th century.

This latest accolade for her boutique in London was driven by a combination of public votes from brides and evaluations from within the wedding industry.

Far from a one-off victory, the title joins a long legacy of excellence. Since opening its doors, Shrestha’s brand has consistently secured major accolades and industry awards each year.

This one highlights a broader cultural shift within the UK’s £10 billion wedding sector – an industry predominantly driven by a powerful collective of female founders who lead with the empathy needed for the most important day of a woman’s life.

As high-fashion houses increasingly face scrutiny over supply-chain ethics, Shrestha’s flagship boutique operates as a definitive blueprint for zero-waste design, circular luxury and social responsibility.

Reflecting on the milestone, creative director Sanyukta released a statement focusing on the craftsmanship and community behind the brand.

She said: “I am a designer by intellect and an artist by heart, but bringing a bride’s vision to life is the true destination of my craft.

"Our London boutique has always been intended as a sanctuary for the conscious, eco-minded bride.

"Over the past 15 years, our brand has thrived through the unwavering trust of our brides.

"I dedicate this honour to them, our dedicated team, our artisans and the visionary editors who have championed the Beauty With A Conscience brand since its inception.

"This achievement is a shared celebration of our collective journey.”

The recognition follows Shrestha’s London Fashion Week showcase, which documented the brand’s direct ethical impact in the Himalayas.

Her collections are handcrafted, using organic, innovative vegan fibres, by marginalised women artisans in Nepal, 95 per cent of whom are receiving fair wages and independence.

An industry spokesperson commented: “Securing the UK’s premier boutique honour reinforces Sanyukta Shrestha’s ability to merge high-fashion innovation with deeply personalised, compassionate service, offering a proven blueprint for the future of sustainable luxury retail.”
