Gp Capt Peterson has served at Coningsby before, on 3 (Fighter) Squadron and later as Officer Commanding XI (Fighter) Squadron.

Gp Capt Peterson said: “It is a huge privilege to assume command of such a successful station, which is rightly proud of its critical contribution to the defence of the UK and its interests overseas.

“The station’s phenomenal success is due to the incredible dedication of everyone who has worked, continues to work or support those at RAF Coningsby, and I look forward to working alongside them all as the station grows from strength to strength.”

Air Cdre Flewin now takes up his role as Typhoon Force Commander,

He said: “It has been an honour and privilege to command RAF Coningsby, through the Service’s Centenary year, and during a time of significant capability and Force growth.

“I have been humbled by the drive, passion and team ethos across the Station throughout my tenure, and my thanks and congratulations go to all those serving at RAF Coningsby – across the entirety of the Whole Force – for contributing to and maintaining the Station’s exemplary reputation across Defence, both at home and indeed on Operations overseas.

“The committed, resourceful people working at RAF Coningsby remain its greatest strength, and I wish you all the very best for the future as Gp Capt Peterson assumes Command.”
