The money was raised by The Rolling Scones WI at their popular annual plant sale.

WI president Paula Burrett went along to the theatre, together with some of her fellow committee members, to present a cheque for £730.79 to Tracey Mackenzie, Manager of Louth’s Riverhead Theatre.

Paula said: “Each year the group chooses a local charity or community group to support and this year The Riverhead Theatre was chosen as it has recently lost a large amount of Arts Council funding.

"The theatre is a fantastic facility for the town and we want to show our support for it.”

Tracey told the group the money they had donated would go towards the refurbishment of the main rig in the theatre.
