Head proud of school response to Covid crisis

The headteacher of Horncastle Community Primary School says he is proud of the way parents, pupils and staff have risen to the challenges presented by Covid-19.

In a half-term message posted on Facebook, Steve Bladon said last term’s return to school was a greater success then he’d hoped for with a 97% attendance rate.

Mr Bladon warns of’ new challenges’ ahead but says the school is determined to provide a safe environment for all children to flourish.

Mr Bladon says: “We spent months planning for your children’s return but in truth it was difficult to predict how our pupils would cope having being away from formal education.

“I’m delighted to say that on reflection, our pupils’ return has been a greater success then we could have hoped for.

“Attendance levels have been good (97%last week of term),

”The teachers and support staff have worked tremendously hard.

“We have all had to be flexible, resilient and creative.

Schools were basically tasked with re-inventing themselves.

“I am proud we have managed to keep school running smoothly.

“If we got things wrong this term, please know that we are trying out very best.”

Regarding the coming weeks, Mr Bladon added: “We will face some new challenges in the run up to what is likely to be a very different Christmas.

“We are determined to keep our school community as safe as possible and to offer provision which continues to allow all of our children to flourish.”
