Jess Holland was prompted to set up Horncastle ChEF (Children Eat Free) after gaining valuable volunteering experience at a similar initiative at Wragby over the summer months.

Jess said: “We know that families on low incomes can find school holidays really difficult without the free meals usually provided by schools.

“We also know that there are many families who are struggling financially as a direct result of the pandemic.”

“We want to provide a nutritious free pre-packed lunch for any child in Horncastle.

“We won’t be imposing any specific eligibility criteria. Any local family can access our free holiday lunches scheme.”

The scheme will run this week from Monday, December 28 to Friday, December 1.

Pre-packed lunches will be available to be collect from Horncastle Community Centre between 11.30am-1pm.

Jess added: “We will be adopting the framework of Wragby ChEF and have been extremely grateful to have been supported by its founder Norma Higton.”
