The Olde Barn in Cow Lane closed last autumn after owners Majormarket Ltd deemed it ‘unviable as a business proposition’.

In the design and access statement accompanying the planning application, Majormarket details how pressures on the leisure trade nationwide had a negative impact on the Olde Barn since they
acquired the freehold in 2011, despite significant investment.

The Olde Barn has been on the market, but with no interest shown by potential buyers, the owners say they were ‘forced to close the doors to the leisure trade and seek an alternative use for the premises’.

The application submitted is for six three-bedroomed houses on the site and would include a partial demolition of the public house building.

The houses would be built of stone and facing brick, with a pantile roof.

Each house would have parking space for two vehicles.

As with all planning applications, comments can be made on the proposals through the West Lindsey District Council website.
