How Horncastle really is keeping on dancing...

Nothing is going to stop Jacqui Boddy teaching her popular dance classes - and that includes the Covid-19 virus!

The virus - and subsequent Government regulations - meant Jacqui had to call time on sessions at the ‘Dance 10’ studio in Boston Road, Horncastle.

Undaunted, Jacqui decided to launch an ‘online dance school’.

After what she admits were a ‘few technical difficulties’, up to 40 dancers at a time are logging on.

Those budding ‘Strictly’ stars are of all ages - from the very young through to pensioners.

Jacqui said: “It’s proving popular and we’ve had a lot of positive comments.

“We’ve got some great students and I didn’t want them to miss out on lessons - especially if this (coronavirus) carries on for a few months.”

Apart from learning to dance, Jacqui says the classes are suitable for anyone and are a great way of keeping fit - and easing boredom - during the ‘stay at home’ regulations.

She added: “Kids love dancing - and so do a lot of adults.

“We teach all kinds of dancing, from ballet to tap.

“It’s not how I thought we’d be celebrating our 20th anniversary, but at least we’re still all dancing!”

There is an added reason for Jacqui to continue classes.

She took over from her mum, Sonia, who tragically passed away last year.

Jacqui added: “I promised mum I’d keep the school going and I’m not going to let her down. I’m sure she’d be proud of what we’re doing.”

The school has over 100 students and Jacqui - a former professional dancer - is confident there are some budding stars.

Youngsters were recently joined by parents and guardians in a fun event to raise money for Sport Relief. Some of the mums (and dads) were persuaded to wear tutus. The event raised more than £100.
