The UK Infidelity Index web application – part of IllicitEncounters.com – enables people to search a postcode or town to see figures for men and women registered on the site, promoted as ‘the UK’s largest married dating site’.

Boston is said to have 734 people playing away from home, an increase on last year’s figure of 666.

Skegness allegedly has 388 people registered to the cheating website, while Sleaford has 617.

However, The Standard did a search for the lost Lincolnshire village of Sutterby through the search index - and despite there only being a handful of houses there now, Illicit Encounters claims 401 people living there are having an affair.

Beeston, in Nottinghamshire, was said to have the highest number of cheaters in the UK with 941.
