Investigations ongoing at West Ashby school

Lincolnshire Police say investigations are continuing into allegations of assault and neglect at an independent school near Horncastle.

In a statement issued to the Horncastle News, police said: “We have received information which led to the arrest of four people on Wednesday, January 27, 2021.

“Three men, one aged in his 20s and two in their 30s, and a woman aged in her 50s, who are employed at the Build a Future school, West Ashby, were arrested and have been bailed pending our continued investigation.

“The arrests relate to allegations of assault and neglect during employment at the school.

“Safeguarding of any child is our priority and we are working with partners and parents to ensure children at the school continue to receive quality care and education as the investigation continues.”

Detective Inspector Gemma Smith, Protecting Vulnerable Persons Unit, Lincolnshire Police, said: “I understand this news will come as a shock to anyone who has children at the school and may impact on the families involved.

“I ask that the privacy of those involved is respected and remind people it is unlawful to identify any child or young person involved.

“We are working closely with Children’s Services and the education provider.

“The investigation is on-going and we are unable to comment further at this stage.”
