Coun Jimmy Brookes attended the free festive event at The Storehouse in Skegness, offering food, friendship and companionship to anyone who needed it.
"What an amazing event bringing the community together,” he said. “It was an honour to be there and help and I really enjoyed it.”
Also amongst the volunteers serving meals were students from Skegness Grammar School.
“These meals are about more than food,” said Bamidele Akomolafe of the Storehouse, who organised the event in Skegness. “They’re about community, conversation and making sure people know they’re not alone.
”It was wonderful to see so many people coming together to enjoy the meal and the festive atmosphere.
"I am really grateful to everyone who supported us.”
The event was one of was two taking place this week that were supported by the charity Buckingham Emergency Foods – the other taking place at Wainfleet Methodist Church.Together, the two events are expected to have welcomed more than 200 guests, all sitting down to enjoy a freshly prepared hot meal in friendly surroundings.
Buckingham Emergency Foods provides hundreds of meals every Christmas to people who are struggling, lonely or simply in need of a little extra support. Their work ensures that no one has to go without a decent meal — especially at this time of year.
