Jane Kendrick, a retired teacher from Metheringham, appeared on The Chase on Friday evening (October 23) and was part of a team of three that beat Chaser Paul ‘The Sinnerman’ Sinha, winning a share of £24,000.

The episode was filmed back in summer 2019, and had a wide mix of questions, with her teammates Michael and Vicky, who Jane said were terrific:

“Everyone came together and we were the right fit, we worked together really well.

“The questions were quite a mix, some were easy and some were really hard, but I managed to answer them with some educated guesses.”

Well-known for his cheeky charm and inability to keep a straight face when confronted with innuendo-laden questions, Jane said that host Bradley Walsh was just as funny and charming when the cameras weren’t rolling:

“He was just as you see on the TV,” she said, “ He was so nice and put us all at ease and was genuinely funny, he spent ages chatting to us.”

The Sinnerman was also very nice off camera, said Jane: “He was very magnanimous in defeat, and he said we deserved it.”

The Chaser even tweeted after the show aired, saying that there were no excuses, the contestants won because “they were great/I was [rubbish]”.

The contestants each won £8,000, and Jane used her winnings to go on a once in a lifetime trip to Chile with her husband Rob.

“My grandmother was from Chile and I was fascinated by my Chilean heritage, so we went on a tour of Chile and Argentina and it didn’t disappoint, it was wonderful,” she said.

Since the episode was filmed last summer, Jane said she’s had to keep it a secret until it aired so was not allowed to tell anyone whether she won or not, who the Chaser was or the identity of the other contestants.

A game show veteran, Jane has appeared on Fifteen to One twice over the years, and said she’d quite like to enter Who Wants To Be A Millionaire next.
