Katie is a cut above as she scrubs up the Spa sewers

Ordinarily, you would find Katie Liddy with a pair of scissors in her hand.

However, there’s nothing ordinary about the current situation.

Katie is the owner of one of Woodhall Spa’s leading hair and beauty salons, but 25 years of cutting and quiffing came to a halt when it closed at the start of the lockdown.

Katie was never one to sit back and now she has swapped the scissors for a needle and thread.

She was (and still is) the driving force behind Woodhall Spa volunteers making scrubs for NHS staff.

Katie read on social media about other scrub-making groups being set up and put out an appeal for volunteers in Woodhall - and her phone has hardly stopped ringing.

Katie is now one of 30 volunteers who have turned all kinds of donated material into 60-80 pairs of scrubs - and 150 scrubs bags.

That total is rising on a daily basis as more and more people get involved.

The Woodhall operation is linked with a similar group at Stanhope Hall, Horncastle.

Katie explained: “I contacted Shelley Wills who set up the Horncastle group. It’s amazing what she has achieved in such a short space of time and she has been brilliant for us.”

The Woodhall group sends finished products to Horncastle for distribution and Katie added: “We’ve got three drop- off points for material and we’ve got all kinds of people involved - including doctors and nurses.”
