Laura Ince, Castle Team Leader said: “Our medieval wall walk guide is absolutely amazing to listen to. Find out about battles and sieges and kings, soldiers and prisoners who walked the walls hundreds of years ago.

“From King Henry VIII, who visited with Catherine Howard in 1541, to Henry Carey, convicted of murder and sentenced to death by hanging in 1859, the walls are steeped in stories.

“Find out about Lucy Tower, dating back to medieval times, where our resident dragon Lucy, is currently hiding out, learn more about the Observatory Tower, and discover the grisly history of Cobb Hall – where public hangings once took place.

“As we are now on week six of lockdown, this is the perfect catalyst for an activity day with kids to let their imaginations run wild.

“Perhaps they could dress up as kings or soldiers, make their own fortress and follow it as they go round or think what they would do if they were a prisoner in Cobb Hall.

“Or you could just relax and imagine a lovely sunny day walking along the walls. It’s perfect and its free.
