Lincolnshire Archives to reopen on April 13

Residents wishing to find out more about their family history, their homes or the history of Lincolnshire will soon be able to revisit Lincolnshire Archives.

From April 13, the Archives in Lincoln’s St Rumbold Street, will reopen on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday for advance bookings only, which can be made from today (April 6).

The Archives cares for parish registers, church records, wills, electoral registers, maps and plans, poor law records, title deeds and photographs.

It also holds information about many families, businesses, local authorities, solicitors, societies and schools, which help form a fascinating record of life in Lincolnshire

Ron Frayne, collections manager at the Archives, said: “Over lockdown we’ve had many enquires about families in the county, so we are looking forward to welcoming people back in to help them find out more about their past.

“We will, of course, have additional hygiene and safety measures in place, including enhanced cleaning and social distancing measures.”
