Lincolnshire coast and country tops list for family holidays

Lincolnshire has been named the most popular destination for families enjoying much-needed breaks through a national charity.

More than a quarter of families supported by Family Holiday Charity in 2025 chose to visit the county – with seaside favourites like Skegness and Ingoldmells among the top picks along the coast.

Breaks were also taken in popular spots in the coutryside such as Tattershall.

The charity supports families facing challenges such as financial hardship, bereavement and mental health struggles – many of whom have never had a holiday before.

Chief executive Rob Parkinson said the destinations families choose are hugely important: He said: “All the families we support find themselves in really tough times, with no space to relax or make plans for the future.

“It’s so heartening to think these locations are becoming the backdrops for lifelong memories that can help build confidence, closeness and optimism.”

In 2025, 300 families – made up of more than 1,200 people – were able to take a break thanks to the charity.

Accommodation, travel and food costs are covered or subsidised, allowing families to switch off from everyday pressures.

The impact has been significant, with 90% of families saying the break improved relationships and 93% reporting better mental health for children.

The charity now hopes to expand its work, with a target of supporting 5,000 family breaks a year by 2028.

For many, those trips to the Lincolnshire coast are more than just a holiday – they are a chance to reset, reconnect and create lasting memories.
