LINCOLNSHIRE Show 2013: In Pictures

Highlights included chainsaw sculpture from Tealby-based Lincolnshire Tree Services, a birds of prey flying display and fly past from a Dakota and the Red Arrows.

There were more than 2,500 animals at the Lincolnshire Show - 498 cows, 1,689 horses, 630 sheep and 121 pigs.

Horncastle Young Farmers’ won the best float competition with a Lion King theme.

In the flower show, Woodhall Spa group won first prize for its ‘eco innovations’ display, which featured several tyres.

Long service awards for dedication to agriculture were presented to 29 people, including Patricia Cook from WD Margrave and Son in Market Rasen.

Anthony Machin from Horncastle said: “Last year was the first time I’ve missed the show in 45 year - it’s good to come back this year.

“I like the animals, the livestock, cattle and sheep.

“The nice weather is good and it’s a lovely atmosphere.”

Mavis Parker from Scawby was keen to see the flower show. She said: “It’s fantastic, the displays are very modern and all look very beautiful.”

Caroline Rowbottom from South Kelsey said: “It’s very busy and there are lots of different stalls.”

Steve Penney from Caistor’s Waltham Herbs said: “It’s been great and the weather’s been perfect.

“Customers have been steady all day.”

Matt Weavers from Cliffedale Chandlers tennis club in Grantham said: “We’re doing our bit to encourage people to have a bit of fun and participate in sport - we’ve seen hundreds of kids.”

Osgodby Cote Hill Cheese owner Mary Davenport said: “It’s been brilliant - it’s lovely to meet customers old and new.

“It’s been a great show, the Lincolnshire Show always is a fantastic day out.”
