Back in March, the organisers originally revealed that the popular fundraising event would be postponed until the autumn due to the coronavirus pandemic.

However, unfortunately - due to the ongoing impact of the pandemic and the difficulties involved with social distancing measures at such an event - the Louth Run For Life Fundraising Group has now decided to cancel this year’s event to ensure the safety and wellbeing of all participants and supporters.

Louth Run For Life chairman, Simon West, said: “This was an extremely difficult decision for us to make but we feel with guidance from Cancer Research UK this is the only action we can take at this time.

“If you have already paid for a place in this year’s run, your registration will automatically be transferred to the 2021 event (Sunday June 27, 2021) and no
further action is needed.

“If you would like to discuss other options, please contact us on [email protected] or calling 0300 123 5461 by July 31, 2020.

“We are working with Cancer Research Uk for LRFL to hold a virtual run event this year and should have some exciting news in the very near future.

“These are uncertain times and we understand that you might have questions or worries about coronavirus and how it could affect you, a friend or family member who has, or has had, cancer.”

“As the weeks and months progress, we know that our community will remain strong and united in support of each other and our mission to beat cancer.

“We look forward to meeting with you all again soon. Thank you for your continued support and understanding in this difficult time.

“Keep safe and remember that we’re in this together.”
