One of the organisers, Adrian Benjamin, told the Leader: “It was splendid weather in Mablethorpe for the Carnival Weekend, and the only cloud in the sky was the anxiety over the Covid pandemic.

“The Treasure Trail went online with photos taken of all the contestants, so that their costumes could be judged.

“But shop windows and gardens were decorated to the delight of passers by, and stalls were set up on private property, [which generated] much appreciated funds for various charities, and raising money too for the Carnival of 2021 when, we trust, things will be back to normal.”

Adrian added: “Though everyone was aware of the new ‘rule of six’, there were throngs of people enjoying the carnival spirit and shops were thriving in this last burst of summer sunshine!”

The winners for the best shop window prizes, awarded by VisitLincs Business Improvement District, were Rock & Ices (Enchanted Fairy Garden), Allsorts (Alice in Wonderland), and The Flower Box (Gnomes at War).

Meanwhile, the following awards for the best costumes were given out by Mablethorpe and Sutton Town Council.
