Mablethorpe group supported the elderly and vulnerable on VE Day

A community group in Mablethorpe helped residents celebrate the 75th anniversary of VE Day last Friday (May 8), with a little treat to mark the occasion.

The group - called ‘Mablethorpe Cares’ - was set up to help the elderly and vulnerable during the coronavirus pandemic.

Volunteers kindly offer to go out shopping for these vulnerable people, so they do not have to leave their homes.

Last Friday, the volunteers helped some of their residents celebrate the special occasion with a little VE Day picnic box.

A spokesman for the group told the Leader: “We would like to thank the following local businesses for their kind donations and discounts.

“Cooplands Bakery, The Blitz Tearoom, and Woodcocks Butchers. And of course, our amazing volunteers for delivering them all.

“As you can see from the photos, they were really appreciated. Great job everyone!”
