The road will be closed for resurfacing between the B1190 Thimbleby Hill junction, and the B1225 High Street junction at Baumber.

The work has been brought forward in the council’s maintenance schedule to take advantage of the current reduction in traffic across Lincolnshire, and therefore cause less disruption for drivers.

Councillor Richard Davies, executive member for highways at Lincolnshire County Council, said: “We’ve been determined throughout the pandemic to keep our key highway maintenance schemes going and ensure our roads are safe for key workers and those making essential journeys.

“To do this, we’ve adapted the way we work so that our crews can work safely and social distance, and we’ve shuffled our programme of works to take advantage of the quieter roads and cause less disruption to motorists.”

Whilst work takes place on the A158, vehicles will be diverted along A158 to Wragby, the A157 to Louth, on the A16 and A153 to Horncastle, and vice versa.

Councillor Davies continued: “Here on the A158 the road has just reached the end of its life and needs resurfacing.

“Although doing the work now will cause much less disruption due to the current traffic levels, I’d like to thank those residents who do still need to travel for bearing with us whilst we make this a smoother, safer road.”
