The Multi-Use Games Area (MUGA) will offer an all-weather surface that will allow football and basketball to be played on, as well as other fitness activities. There will also be a table tennis table.

The project has received a £51,000 from Boston Town Area Committee with part of that coming from the Community Migration Fund.

Work is due to begin on the new facility by Safe and Sound Playgrounds early this month.

It will be located on the old tennis courts in Boston’s Central Park.

The rest of the park will remain open to the public while work goes on.

The area is due to be completed in time for Easter when an official opening will take place.

Frances Taylor, Play and Physical Activity Officer for Boston Borough Council said: “We are absolutely delighted to be successful in securing such generous funding from BTAC and the Community Migration Fund.

“We are hoping our residents will thoroughly enjoy using the new area, with all the health benefits it will bring.

“The funding will make Central Park an even greater place for young and old alike to enjoy this area of our borough.”

Portfolio holder for leisure services, Cllr David Brown added: “I am so pleased this project has been made possible with the help of a great team of organisers and the funders. It will provide a brand new playing surface and fencing for safety, all suitable for wheelchair users to access. The ground will marked out for football and basketball.”
